Finding the right therapist is essential for effective care. At ReachLink, we tailor your provider list based on clinical appropriateness, licensing rules, your insurance or benefits, and any preferences you choose to share. Below is an overview of what we consider when matching you.

1. Age Requirements

Some providers serve only certain age groups (for example, adults 18+).
You’ll only see therapists who are clinically trained and approved to work with your age group.

2. Location & Licensing

Therapists must be licensed in the state where you are physically located during each session.
Your provider list automatically adjusts based on:
  • The state you indicate during onboarding
  • The provider’s active state license(s)
  • Multi-state licensure, when applicable
If you travel between states, your available provider list may change accordingly.

3. Insurance or Program Eligibility

Your benefits determine which providers can appear in your list:
  • Insurance clients: Only in-network therapists are shown after insurance verification.
  • EAP clients: You’ll see therapists authorized under your Employee Assistance Program.
  • Self-pay clients: You can choose from the full network of ReachLink providers.
Verification helps ensure coverage and minimizes unexpected costs.

4. Optional Demographic Preferences

Some clients prefer a provider who shares or understands certain demographic experiences.
If you indicate preferences, we do our best to match based on:
  • Gender
  • Cultural background
  • Language
  • Relevant lived experience
These preferences are optional and not required to receive high-quality care.

5. Therapy Style & Interpersonal Fit

Therapists differ in how they communicate and structure sessions. You can indicate preferences such as:
  • Supportive vs. direct feedback
  • Collaborative vs. structured
  • Conversational vs. goal-oriented
  • More guided vs. more open-ended
Providers describe their style in their profiles so you can choose someone who feels like a good fit.

6. Therapeutic Modalities

If you’re seeking a specific therapeutic approach or have a clinical need, we match you with providers trained in modalities such as:
  • CBT
  • ACT
  • DBT-informed approaches
  • Psychodynamic therapy
  • Mindfulness-based therapies
  • Trauma-informed care
These methods help tailor treatment to your goals and symptoms.

7. Clinical Specialties

To support your specific concerns, we match you with therapists experienced in areas such as:
  • Anxiety and depression
  • Stress, burnout, and work-related concerns
  • Trauma and PTSD
  • Relationship issues
  • Grief and loss
  • LGBTQ+ concerns
  • Family conflict
  • Life transitions
This ensures the therapist you choose has relevant expertise.

8. Scheduling & Availability

You’ll only see providers who offer sessions that align with your scheduling needs, including:
  • Mornings
  • Evenings
  • Weekends
  • Lunchtime options
  • Weekly or biweekly openings
Consistent availability helps maintain continuity of care.

How the Matching Process Works

  1. Complete onboarding with your location, insurance information, preferences, and intake questions.
  1. Insurance verification (if applicable) filters your provider list to in-network options.
  1. Automated matching filters remove any providers who don’t meet licensing, age, or program requirements.
  1. Preference-based matching highlights therapists who align with your clinical needs and personal preferences.
  1. Choose your therapist from your curated list and select an appointment time.
  1. Confirm your session by adding payment information and completing insurance verification, if needed.

If You Don’t See Any Providers

If your list appears empty or limited, our Care Team can help. They may:
  • Review your insurance status
  • Adjust or clarify your preferences
  • Suggest more flexible appointment times
  • Confirm you’ve completed all onboarding steps
  • Offer options with therapists licensed in multiple states
We’ll work with you to ensure you’re matched appropriately.
